one of the references that helped to shape Sies Marjan’s autumn winter 2016 collection was a Vintage Club Kids’ Jacquard. ‘At the beginning, some people told me to just lie and say we made this image, we put it on the fabric. that’s absolutely not true!’ Lak said with a laugh. ‘I found the fabric in a bin in an archive of an incredible mill that we work with in Italy, and we exactly replicated it. It was actually a test fabric that they made once in the ’90s.’ The image of neon club kids is woven into a jacquard using 16 colors, a mix of high Italian craftsmanship and low party culture that amuses the designer. ‘It’s the most incredibly well-made fabric that they only can do in Italy, but the funny thing is that while the technique is very, very high end and the material is the most expensive, beautiful material, the image is something really cheap,’ he added.
