German photographer Peter Lindbergh is today regarded as one of the most influential fashion photographers of the past forty years. Since the eighties he gained international acclaim with his pure black-and-white photographs. Driven to capture the human body in all its imperfections, Peter Lindbergh has revolutionized fashion photography after a series of images taken in downtown New York. The pictures made the cover of British Vogue in January 1990, which heralded the beginning of the Nineties supermodel era. He was asked to photograph the new woman of the Nineties. In his opinion the idea of beauty had broadened. It couldn't be just a blonde or a blue eyed girl, so he photographed five models, sober styled, with minimalist make up. Honest, simple images that show a natural vision of a woman’s beauty.
