Images above are published in ‘Issey Miyake by Irving Penn’. This collaboration comprises of Penn’s photographs of Miyake’s Spring Summer 1989 and Autumn Winter 1989-90 collection which were the first seasons to feature his pleated designs. Miyake developed the use of pleats in subsequent collections. in 1993 he launched a stand-alone line known as ‘Pleats Please’ by Issey Miyake.
